Baby Steps

We all fall down sometimes

The rise and fall like my chest with each breath

Feelings of calmness set in between the impact

My adrenaline coursing through my veins

Feeling that I will once rise again and fly away

For today I fall afraid to once again rise

Being held down by the ghost of past memories

Bruised by the history I am doomed to repeat

Failing to learn from my mistake each time I fall

I rise to my feet again knowing the pattern I am doomed to repeat

Until I truly learn to stand on my own feet
