Oh Darling, Don't You Know?

Oh Darling, Don't You Know?

A Poem by Madeline

Venom slipped through their mouths,
Spoken in such gentle tones.
With sharpened tongues they seemed to laugh,
Oh darling don't you know?
You're worth noting in the eyes of us,
Though sweet signs of friendships seemed to show,
Planted on the cobblestones,
Never will it grow.

Your heart's been broken,
Time and time again.
So naive were you to think,
You could ever have a friend.

Oh darling girl,
Don't you know,
To never let your feelings show?
Never to give your heart in care,
To those who clearly don't?

You are made up,
Of a thousand broken bones,
The scars lay across your soul,
Testimonies of pure sorrow.
The songs you sing are laced in grief,
Sung of long forgotten hope.
Oh darling girl,
When will you ever let it go?

Author's Note

Madeline
*This is not meant to be provoking in any way. This was written during a very dark time, when I was dealing with some people who were very cruel to me. This is just what I felt it would look like if their actions had words.
