Into The Darkness
by GothicAngel

People always think I'm so happy
and so peppy and so hyper because
I'm always smiling,
but there’s something cold and
blank behind a smile.

If everyone of you could
see exactly how I really
feel you'd probably want
to slit your wrists as much as
I do.

One little pill and I was back
as right as rain, but not
anymore.

All the drugs in the world
they can't save you from
yourself, they can't save you
from what goes on inside.

Its as though your locked inside
your own little box,
just waiting for someone to
turn that key, to let you out,
to make you sane again,
but somehow you know
that will never happen.

Its then It begins to grow
until your infected with it,
It burrows Its way under
your skin and spreads,
It spreads, until your mind
Is riddled with it, It slowly strangles
the life out of every thought,
every feeling.

Inside your suffocating as
It drags you kicking and
screaming Into the darkness.

The lines that stood out for me were:

I'm always smiling

The Heavy Chill of Silence

It's the truth behind my silence
and the chill that's since remained
Ghost fingerprints fade, as if
inhaled by cold, glass pane

Turn away from what was
with a soft smile transfixed
while holding darkness in
with a curve of my lips

It's the frosted grays of winter
and the puffs of breath revealed
by the heavy chill exuded
from the pain silence concealed

First, I like the title, The Heavy Chill of Silence. It conveys coldness. Thus, it could be like "The Coldness of Silence". Indeed, Silence, cold silence, is not a very comforting company to keep. It gradually kills the spirit and eventually steals breath away. It is one's own enemy.

I do like your style. You find the positive and the beauty when so many others write about the darkness. Your work is refreshing. Thank you.
