I am colors yet I fear the coming shadows
A spilling forth of vibrancy depletes me
What is left cannot enliven nor sustain me
I fear the softened smile has lost its warmth
I saw colors once that danced within my view
An arc of pastel shades that took my breath away
Allowed a fleeting smile within a grey day
What remains I cannot see, I dare not look
I breathed in colors but they wanted to be free
So a broken sigh releases bits of rainbows
Diluted hues spill forth in silent overflow
An ever present shadow creeps in slowly
I was colors once but cannot see the light
The thought’s dismissed, such vibrancy dispelled
Doubt settles in and thrives as though compelled
So comes the shades of grey from times long past
Though uncertain of what lies within the shadows
A reaching out determines there’s still warmth
Such softened hues seen from another’s view
So reflected if I’d only stop and look
Do cast hesitance aside, from doubts be free
Breathe in colors once again surely, slowly
Soft rainbows leaping forth from friendship’s light
To chase away the shadows of the past
Wow! This is a colorful breathless piece threaded with beautiful meaning. I can also breathe in colors that evaporates from your words. Such a refreshing piece of art that feed both mind and soul. Beautifully penned!
