 knowing eyes

though gone the mask darkness has donned

a guise held fast cements its bond

deception’s art within a smile

meant to trap ~ consume, beguile

though leery, find resolve will slip

light withers, into shadows dip

dull morning comes, your will took flight

in sunken eyes beyond foresight

glimpse in the mirror’s crack, a sneer

tissue of conscious darkness clear

Wow.
This is really good you got a real shot at winning sister =).
My favorite part is the last strophe, the mirror crack was a soft touch.
I think you described the quiet desperation of most of us, greatly in this verses.
