unsettling, unassuming

unsettling, unassuming

A Poem by SilentDream
"

Written for Alberts Poetry Caf 10/40 ~ use 10 words given. poem's length 40 words...

"

unsettling, unassuming

glimpses of pestilence
flashing still shots
with smoked edges

and faces
exuding power

unsettling smiling outsiders
who prefer handshakes,
pats on backs

donning unassuming titles,
neatly wrapped
in well-arranged dress

lips tightly pursed~ poised
to blow whistles
of disbelief

Written for Albert’s Poetry Café 10/40
Using the words:

dress – power – whistles – outsiders – flashing -
smoked – titles – handshakes – pestilence - smiling

Author's Note

SilentDream
I like going in unexpected directions when given a list of words...

The idea behind this is watching
and responding to tragedy but
from a distance. Darfur came
to mind... Like Rwanda in the
past

You are amazing...love the presentation, and the title as well!

Albert's death was such a shock to me. He was the kindest man, and the Cafe just doesn't seem the same without him.

Please let me know when you post!

My best,
Kelly

Ten words used with skill to bring forth a defined atmosphere of pretension. Well done.

Oh well done poetess. You made it look so easy the way you wove
the 10 words in there. Thank you for submitting this superb write
to Tovli's challenge!

A very nice poem.

Very well done. I admire how well you were able to work in each of the words and give each phrase its own individual meaning.

This is a really good use of the ten words too. I especially like the first stanza.
Good luck in the contest!
