“He didn’t appear to be moving—he simply stood in the water
and let it wash over his legs—and she noticed his eyes were closed,
as if he were enjoying the beauty of the world without having to watch it.”

~from Message in a Bottle, Nicholas Sparks

Oh, how she wanted to close her eyes then
And just immerse herself in his world
From her longing she caught a mere glimpse
Of the peace found, yet darkness unfurled

As he turned, he saw her eyes misting
And he followed her gaze then to see
Uncorked bottles with missing love letters
In the sand she found hope had been emptied

A knowing breeze carried him to her side
Taking her hand he would then show the way
To feel hope though it might not be seen
Immersed in a breeze as they sway
