A Lover in the Way

A Lover in the Way

A Poem by Siena - Silent Awakenings.
"

Where are they really? Did gravity just flip around

"
As I wake, there is a lover in the way
Taken aback, I sway to the beat of her stare, staring just above mine

Always above my own beat and stare, my own way of being there
There are reasons within the home of a lost soul,
that we see the ways between the waves of our new and old,
torn and bold we seek the rafters of this lover gone wild, a lover tiresome and overcome with the moments of the love we had once felt together.

This time I lie beneath the shoreline, it comforts me every time
Some say I have gone blind to the beauty of her stare
but I see it blissfully, and as if it were my duty,
I use up the moment in my memory.
Like it were a statue of truth, somewhere embedded in my youth, long before this and long before her.

As I wake, there is a lover in the way
I look closely but realise that she had been led astray,

I try to smile to comfort her unforgiven stare,
but there are people here too, i realise they never saw you
for who you are, but for someone who was lost
I usher for them to leave but they seem not to care
Where are we? I question her
'I am the lover in the way, and you are the lover that never stayed.'
Beauty bound and taken for something I am not
I treasure the world that gave me our love but not the one that seemed to defeat it
Somehow delete it.
She starts to question me,
Where are we? The same question
I tell her that I am in a haze and that she can’t stay.

She moves further back, reaches for the door
The ceiling never left, the sky seemed to touch the floor

I felt bombarded, I felt small and alienated
She says she is leaving but the door won’t move
Every other word is like a world within her world and I feel like I cant translate
She starts pulling on the door handle.

And once its opened she stares into the milky way
The sparkling stars are so bright,
we are not where we thought we were,
we were immersed in a room inside the sky.

Because the sky touched the floor while there was a lover in a way

Spacey and emotional tugging at the strings that connect us. Traces of love and pain scorching our existence. I like it.
