Empty Hearts

Empty Hearts

A Poem by Silent Angel

Reality

Fantasy

Can you see the difference?

Living

Dead

Are you alive with indifference?

This world is changing

Spinning around

People cry out

But you don't hear a sound

Their screams rip at you

So very loud and clear

But you refuse to listen

Like a wall is in your ear

You sit there in silence

Happy and content

But you're not alive

You reality's so bent

No feeling of love

Can hit your 'fragile' heart

You haven't felt anything

Nothing's ripping you apart

Try to live truley

But living in fear

Listen to the voice of death

Whisper in your ear

Wake up in dread

Hoping to die

With all your dreams crushed

Wings that won't fly

Then laugh your hardest

With life swarming in you

Realize what happiness takes

And how we want it too

Watch the sun rise and set

Coloring the sky

Watch the birds carry your dreams

As they fly way up high

Tell  me how you live

With a reality not in there

Can't you see that tiny crack

Growing into a gaping tear?

Don't you want to live and breath

Like so few of us actually do

Changing the world one by one

And it all begins with you

Happiness

Regret

Are you better off in the grave?

Destruction

Renewal

You're someone we want to save.

I love this poem! So many of us like to turn a blind eye to what is happening around us but the bad thing about that is that we aren't only being ignorant to those around us, we are also harming ourselves because one way or another reality kicks in and it hurts much more when we aren't already aware of it. Great poem! keep writing.
