Silent Angels Whisper * Part IV: Razbitye serdtsa suhie (Broken Hearts are Dry) - Chapter 15A Chapter by Silent AngelWhen I woke up I was no longer in the smelly science lab, I was outside. I could feel the cool breeze blowing the hair out of my face. When I opened my eyes though I realized I was on top of the science lab, all fifty stories of it. My heart pumped faster and faster and I realized I was not alone. “Well looky here, its 786856452382936481. I hope your ready to die.” a creepy man stated as he recited my number. It only took a second for me to recognize the ninja-killer (or creepy guy, either name works) and realize we hadn’t lost him. “I’m ready if you are.” I said through clenched teeth. “Oh, don’t worry. Only your death will happen today.” he assured me. He yanked me off of the ground and led me to the edge of the roof. He had one hand wrapped around my neck, squeezing hard as he tried to cut off my hair. Luckily I could still breathe. I looked down and could hardly see the ground below. There was no way somebody, even scientifically enhanced like me, could survive that fall. “Any last words, my dear? It’s a long fall.” the creepy man stated “No, please, leave her alone!” Lune cried, struggling to get away from the men holding his arms behind him I looked over and saw about twenty men holding onto Lune, Tod, Shavi and Zori as they struggled and tried to stop the creepy man from killing me. My breath caught in my throat as I saw actually tears flowing down Lune’s cheeks. I had never thought I’d see him cry, especially over me. “Come on, death is waiting for you……” the creepy man sang angrily I took at deep breath and looked down. If by some chance I could grab onto something along the way and stop myself from falling….. “Come on! Or I will throw you off without letting you speak!” he cried, shaking my neck. “God save us everyone. Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns? For the sins of our hands, the sins of our tongues, the sins of our father, the sins of our young.” I said quickly, remembering the lyrics to a song I had once heard. “Beautiful. Bye-bye.” the man said after a minute. My breath caught in my throat as he shoved me off the edge by my neck. Lune cried out louder than the others, but I could hear all of them. Air rushed past me, clogging my ears and drying out my eyes. I was falling faster than I could imagine. Lights flashed past me as I fell and the cool night air had an icy feel to it. I’m dead. I thought. I spun in air and looked up to see Lune at the edge of the building with his hand outstretched. Tears were falling down his face and he was yelling something I couldn’t hear. All the scientists we standing on the edge, smug smiles on their faces. ‘Shhh, Angel, I’ll never let you go.’ My mind flashed as I heard his voice in my head again. He promised something. He promised me he would never let me go. I thought, wondering why he had said Angel. ‘I’m a star, you’re a star.’ I frowned, the pieces in my mind messing with me as I fell farther and farther down. ‘I’m a star, you’re a star. Someone was told to extinguish us.’ I forgot why I was falling as suddenly, everything fit together. I’m a star, you’re a star. Someone was told to extinguish us. But shhh, Angel, I’ll never let you go. The fires of a thousand suns could never hurt me when I’m with you. And my bed is my grave, but only when I’m alone. Shhh, Angel, I’ll never let you go.’ It was Lune. All of it had been him, but what was more important, we had known each other our whole lives. And longer. © 2011 Silent Angel |
