Silent Angels Whisper * Part III: Tridtsat Minut (Thirty Minutes) - Chapter 11

A Chapter by Silent Angel

“Yay! I love the beach!” Shavi cried as she ran towards the waves.

“Woohoo!” Zori yelled as she splashed into the water.

After traveling a week we were able to make it down to the top of California where a beautiful private beach sat without and people. I was almost completely healed, since one of our powers is that we can heal incredibly fast, and Tod still acted like he hadn’t almost lost his own life.

“Hey, I’m gonna take a swim, will you guys be okay?” Tod asked

“Yeah, we’ll be fine.” I said

Tod ran off and dove into the wild waves, joining the girls. Lune and I began to walk along the beach, enjoying the beautiful scene of the ocean. It was always moments like that when I felt totally content. Like nothing could go wrong and the world was finally at peace. Of course, those were the moments that didn’t last very long because something wrong always happened.

“So, we actually made it down to the beach. What’s next?” Lune asked after a while of walking on the warm sand beside me.

“I don’t know, I never really thought about what might happen when we reached our goal. I guess we need a new goal.” I responded in deep thought

“Well, what’s our goal? We could fulfill the girl’s dreams of going to Disney Land, but I’m not sure that’s the path we should take. What do you think?” Lune asked after a second

“Huh, I don’t know. Disney Land would be fun, but it’s far too crowded with too many people and too much excitement. I just don’t know…..” I answered

Lune nodded and we walked in silence some more. It seemed like no matter what path we choose we would never be able to actually enjoy it, because the longer we stayed away from the scientists the more bad things happened. After about an hour of thinking about this I realized I was practically choking on the tears I was holding down.

“What’s the matter?” Lune asked, looking at me curiously

“Nothing…..it’s nothing.” I answered, looking away from him

“No, tell me.” Lune said, stopping in front of me and turning to face me.

“I just….” I began but realized I had no idea where I was going with that, so I shook my head and looked down.

“Hey,” Lune began, putting a finger under my chin so I would make eye contact with him “I know things are getting harder, and that we have a lot of responsibility, but it’ll be okay, I promise.” Lune soothed with his eyes boring into mine and his hands holding mine.

“But how can you be so sure?” I whispered back “How can you promise me nothing bad will happen?”

“Engel, of course bad things will happen. This is life, and even if we were normal bad things would still happen. I’m can’t promise you nothing bad will happen, but I can promise you that I will always be here for you, to help you through it.” he promised

“You promise you’ll never leave me? No matter what happens?” I whispered, fighting back the tears that blurred my vision. So much for not showing any more emotion, I thought.

“’Together Forever, Never Apart, Maybe a distance, but never in heart.’” Lune whispered in his promising voice

For a second we just stood there, his hands holding my hands, breathing together. After a second he leaned forward, and I closed my eyes, ready for what was coming. But just when he was centimeters away from me another scream broke the perfect silence.
