Silent Angels Whisper * Part III: Tridtsat minut (Thirty Minutes) - Chapter 10

A Chapter by Silent Angel

“What’s going on?!” I cried as I burst into the small space again.

I froze right after I said it because there was Tod standing there, frozen as well. Blood began to stain his shirt right at his stomach, and his skin suddenly turned very pale. Behind him the creepy man we had left behind hours ago was standing there, holding the guilty gun. Shavi and Zori screamed again and covered their eyes from the horror that was death.

“Good-bye sweet little experiment. Sleep well.” the man said in his monotone voice.

Tod let out a breath and sank to his knees slowly, his hand moving towards his stomach. Lune and I just stood there paralyzed under this new site. Nothing like that had ever happened before.

“Of course, I give a fair chance to everyone’s life. If you want to live Tod, Engel will have to come over here and take this vial from my hand.” the killer explained

“Give me the vial.” I demanded coldly

“No, and if you’re to chicken to come get it, Tod will die.” he replied simply

“Over my dead body.” I stated

I lunged myself at him without thinking and knocked him to the ground. Then I grabbed his gun, but he refused to let go and we rolled over each other, each one holding on to the gun. Another bullet rang out but it whipped past my head, not even scraping me. I took my open hand and punched his face several times, and then pried his fingers open for the vial and gun. But he was strong, so we kept on fighting.

Somewhere in the background Lune had ran over to Tod and was now holding his shirt to Tod’s stomach, trying to stop the bleeding while he soothed the girls. But that wasn’t my concern at the moment. I finally ripped the gun out of the mans hand’s and threw it as hard as I could across the room. Unfortunately the killer had a knife and before I knew it I was cut in too many places to count.

But I kept on fighting; ignoring the pain I was getting from my left cheek, both wrists, my stomach, ribcage, back, thighs, and ankles. He had good aim with a knife. Just while the vial was about to slip from his fingers he shoved the knife into my shoulder blade, causing me to shriek. I gritted my teeth and grabbed the knife by the blade to rip it away from him. I knew it was a pretty picture, but I didn’t care. I chucked it into a wall and stole the vial from him. He scrambled up and ran away.

After watching for a second and making sure he was going to come back I crawled over to Tod’s shaking body. A pool of blood was on the ground beside him and I had to cringe. I hated blood, so seeing so much of it made me queasy. You know, besides the blood that was falling out of my cuts at the point.

“Here, swallow this.” I whispered to Tod as I poured the liquid from the vial into his mouth.

I knew I couldn’t trust that man. The vial could have been a fake. I would have fought so hard for nothing and Tod would have died anyway. But there was something good about being that insane. He was totally honest. The liquid traveled down to his bullet wound and slowly closed it up, leaving Tod breathing like it had never even happened.

“Hey guys, how you doing? Dang, Engel, you look like you just got into a cat fight.” Tod joked as he recovered from shock

“Yeah, something like that.” I mumbled, holding my shoulder.

“Come on everyone, we gotta wrap up Engel and then get the hell out of here. How does going back to California sound?” Lune asked, trying to be cheerful.

“Can we go to Disneyland, and the beach?” Zori asked

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there sweetie. For now I’d really like to stop bleeding because I really hate blood.” I told her, trying not to look at myself.

“Alright, come on.” Lune said, taking my hand and leading me over to our first-air kit.

“Hey, Engel?” Tod asked as we walked away

“Yeah?” I asked, stopping to look at him

“Thanks.” he replied

I nodded and walked over to where Lune was, waiting to wrap me up.

‘Shhh, Angel, I’ll never let you go.’
