Silent Angels Whisper* Part I: Nachalo (The beginnings) - Chapter 3A Chapter by Silent Angel“Okay, so I used to be with the lab scientists and I used to kill lost experiments. I don’t know why Zori would tell you I still do that and then tie you up……” Schone Tod explained to us as he finished untying us from the bars across the wall. “I thought it was funny! You should have seen their faces!” Zori laughed from behind him, pointing and laughing at us again. “I’m sorry.” Shavi whispered. I looked over at her and saw she was sitting in a corner, her knees pulled up to her chest and her arms around her knees with tears streaming down her face. In just twelve hours I had learned a lot about those two little girls. Zori was tri-polar. Now, everyone’s heard of bi-polar, but she literally had three moods almost at once. On second she would be a happy, laughing, nine year old and the next it was like she was the spawn of Satan. She was always extremely creepy during those five minute periods, but so far I hadn’t seen her as homicidal. The other mood was actually normal. When she was hysterical or creepy, she was a normal nine year old, which was good since her other two personalities weren’t so friendly. Shavi could easily be compared to the night sky. She looked dark and seemed sad, but there were always those little happy lights shinning through. She followed Zori, but I could tell she didn’t get along with her. Zori was far too ‘moody’ for her liking. What I did know what the Shavi was always apologizing for something. And there were a lot of things to apologize about. “There you go.” Tod said as he pulled me to my feet. I nodded at him and walked over to Shavi, sat down next to her, and put my arm around her. “Hey,” I whispered to her “Stop being so sorry, okay? My days are not complete without my life being threatened and then being tied to a wall.” I joked with her, making her giggle “Are you okay?” I asked her when she stopped “Yeah…it’s just…..sometimes I wish I had never met Zori.” Shavi admitted, looking over at Zori, who was in hysterics again, and making sure she hadn’t heard her. “Listen, I know she’s…….different, but she seems to do a great job of taking care of you.” I whispered back, glancing at Zori as I said this. “You have no idea.” Shavi responded, smiling a little. I pulled Shavi into my lap and within seconds she was sound asleep. When I looked back up I could see Zori now in one of her creepy moods, looking like she was about to kill Lune, while Tod and Lune talked. “Well, it’s certainly good to know there are more of us out there.” Tod was saying as he eyed Zori carefully. “Yeah, but I think its strange how we all come from different labs.” Lune replied, looking at Zori warily. “I don’t think they wanted us together. Maybe, since I know we haven’t reached our full potential as experiments, maybe they knew we would be too powerful together.” Tod suggested, looking around, only to spot me sitting in a corner with Shavi in my lap. I quickly looked away and pretended to be examining the plain cave as if I was interested. Yeah, look at the rock. There’s around five billion just like it, how exciting. I thought to myself, still avoiding Tod’s eyes. “Huh, well that’s one way to think about it. What is this place anyway?” Lune responded, glancing around the cave. “Oh, it’s just some place I found. I think the scientists used it once, as a base or something, but then there was a chemical explosion and too much radiation so they had to leave.” Tod explained, as if a radiation leak was no big deal. “Okay, so what are we doing inside this hole of death?” Lune asked, raising an eyebrow. “The radiation leak was centuries ago! We are totally safe.” Tod explained, nodding his head. “Really, are you sure it was centuries ago? Did they even know what radiation was back then?” Lune asked, now looking over at Zori who was normal again. “Okay, so it was ten years ago, but don’t worry. I’ve seen old files about us, we are immune to radiation.” Tod exclaimed. “Yip-pee.” Lune said sarcastically. As they continued talking I thought about that for a second. If all of us are the same experiment, why were we separated? I asked myself. And then I spotted a paper sticking out of a wall across from me. I gently layed Shavi to the side and then walked over to the paper. When I pulled it out I saw it was a photograph, but what I saw next was even worse. I was in the photo, and it looked like I was the age of four. There I was, smiling into the camera, with the same long, curly golden hair and safire blue eyes as always. But I wasn’t alone. Lune and Tod were on either side of me. They were both the same age as me; both smiling like there was no tomorrow. Behind us was a lab table and test tubes. That’s when I blanked out. © 2011 Silent Angel |
