Silent Angels Whisper * Part I: Nachalo (The Beginnings) - Chapter 2A Chapter by Silent AngelI fought back a scream as yet another robot man grabbed my hair and yanked me backwards to the ground. I was able to roll over on the ground out of the way as he swung a hammer down to the spot my head had been in. Getting onto my knees I glanced over to see how Lune was doing. He was cornered against a wall with about seven robot men around him, each one with their own weapons. Just as I was about to get onto my feet a robot launched himself at me and we flipped over each other for a full three spins before I landed on top of him. I slammed my fists into his face, denting the heavy medal he was made of. I was able to break a hole in his head and rip out the cords inside, which of course shut him down. When I looked over at Lune again he still wasn’t going so well. They were launching themselves at him while he fought to fend them off. So far this was the biggest battle either of us had been in. Unfortunately the scientists at the lab had figured out how to create fighting machines, literally. We weren’t going to win. Not that time. “Five to seven!” I screamed at Lune as I pulled myself off of the monster robot I had just destroyed and took off running. Lune started shoving away anything in his way and made his way over to me. Just when he was almost through the mob more came up and grabbed him. I ran over to him and grabbed a metal bar off of the side of an apartment. Swinging it around I was able to bash a whole bunch of robots in the head, creating an opening for Lune. I stuck my hand through and grabbed Lune’s arm, just as one of the robots on the ground pulled out a gun. We took off running with the cool night air blowing hard against us. Our breath was already gone, so the running was killing our lungs. But, when you’re running for your life, those things don’t matter. Bullets whizzed past us as we sped along the empty road. Finally, just as a machine gun was being pulled out, Lune yanked me behind a dumpster and we were able to get away. The robots had no idea we stopped running, so the simply passed us. “What a night.” Lune panted in a whisper, catching his breath. “Yeah, that was not fun.” I responded, equally out of breath. Suddenly the hairs on the back of my neck prickled and I knew we were not alone. Trying to be sneaky I pulled myself in front of the dumpster and peeked over the edge, only to see an innocent little girl standing there, staring right back at me. I glanced at Lune, who was looking at the girl too. He simply raised his eyebrows, shrugged, and shook his head, leaning back against the wall. “Hi there sweetie, who are you?” I asked calmly as I rose up from behind the dumpster and examined her more closely. She looked like she was about nine, with long brown hair that fell to her hips and deep green eyes. She was defiantly tall for her age, and it looked like she hadn’t smiled in years. Her skinny body tensed when I spoke, before she finally answered. “You’re Engel Schweigt, German for Silent Angel. You were born in Paso Robles, “Ummm……….” I stuttered, not knowing how to respond. “And you are Lune Noire, which means Dark Moon in French. You also don’t remember your family, but there isn’t a lot to remember. You only had a mother. When you were two she gave you to the ‘evil’ scientists in order to make you stronger. She never got you back. You were born in “What lies?” I asked, looking from her to Lune. “He said he wouldn’t kill you. That was a lie.” she replied simply. “So, you are going to kill me?” I asked Lune, totally forgetting the nine year old girl was standing there and I still had no idea who she was. “No, no, I would never kill you.” Lune replied, looking completely confused. “Liars go to hell. Then again, so do murders.” she responded for me “Okay, who the hell are you and why would I kill Engel?” Lune asked, totally confused now. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any creepier, it did. The girl burst out laughing, flowing back and forth between giggling and actually chocking on her laughter. It only lasted a minute though before she stopped in mid-laugh and looked at us. “You aren’t laughing? Why aren’t you laughing?” she asked, looking at us like we were some problem in calculus. “Well, we aren’t sure what’s going on……” I answered her, glancing at Lune out of the corner of my eye. “Oh, hahahahaha, don’t worry! I’m not some creepy monster! I only know all that stuff since I’ve been following you for the past few months. Oh, and that whole lying thing, I don’t know if it’s true or not. Hahaha, you should see your faces!” she laughed, pointing at us “Right…..” Lune responded, stepping backwards. “I’m Incolor Zori. That’s Romanian for Colorless Dawn. Oh, and this is my not-biological sister.” She " Zori " answered as she pointed and another girl came out. This girl looked about four, with black hair that was curly and only went to her shoulder and black eyes. She smiled at me and gave a little wave as she came out and stood up. She was also tall for her age and skinny too. I wondered if anyone even fed them. “Hi there, what’s your name?” I asked the little girl while returning the smile. “I’m Shavi Ts’a. That’s Georgian for Black Sky. I know, it’s a weird name, but I kinda like it.” the little girl told us, giving another big smile. “Is that all of you?” Lune asked warily “Nope, there’s one more. He’s not here though, we’re waiting for him. He’s our not-biological older brother, Schone Tod. Guess what that means in German.” Zori announced, smiling at us. “Lovely Death.” I answered “Yep, that’s right. And when he comes back, he’ll make sure your funerals will be beautiful.” Zori informed us, suddenly turning back to her not-so-cute voice. © 2011 Silent AngelReviews
