A Poem by Silent Angel

Listen

Listen to me now

Dear one

Or listen to me

A thousand times

And repeat my words

Till they are drilled into every

Dark crevice

That promises the only way to make life better

Is to end it.

I will not stop you.

I will not empty your gun

Or hide your noose

Or toss the pills

Or lock the bathroom

Or keep you from

Tall buildings

Or bridges

Or razors.

This is your choice.

This is your decision.

However, there are six things

Only six

That you need to know

Before you choose to leave

This beautiful world

For that of darkness.

One;

Your mother

Or father

Or siblings

Grandparents

Aunts, uncles, cousins,

Friends, teachers, babysitters -

Everyone whose heart now has a hole -

Will have to bear the agony

Of being told over and over

That Heaven needed another Angel

Which is fine

Except that Heaven didn’t take just any angel.

They took you.

And you died loved.

Two;

It is true that suicide

Does not kill people

It is the sadness

The depression

The anxiety

The pain.

This is good.

Because now you can pull

The trigger

Tip the chair

Take the pills,

And assume no responsibility.

It was the sadness that took over.

The pain that put the gun to your head.

Once you are gone,

It will be gone too.

Gone on to another person close to you.

Gone to your brother

Your sister

To your friends

And all of your family

And the people who knew you

And the ones who never spoke to you

As goosebumps crawl down their arms

And shivers up their spine

And their throats chocked

Because one day you are there,

Even just a person in the background,

And the next you are gone.

But the sadness is there.

Don’t worry;

It will take your place.

Because you died loved.

Three;

It is sweet to feel all the pain

All at once

And then nothing

Ever again.

It is.

Nothingness after all that agony

Will be welcome.

A gift.

What you deserve.

You will not have to feel

Pain

Or sadness

Or anger or guilt.

You will not have to feel

That bubbling sensation of excitement

Or the ache of your stomach

As you try to stop laughing.

You will not feel that warm sensation

Or someone pulling you in for a hug

Or that sweet remembrance of childhood

As you catch a smell of wet grass,

Or baking cookies,

Or pine trees that remind you of holidays.

You will not have to feel the foreboding

Future.

You will not have to wonder,

If it could be better than you could've hoped for.

You do not have to go to school

And deal with the feeling you get when you finally,

Finally,

Understand something.

No, none of that will even need to be felt again.

In that sweet, sweet release.

You will feel nothing.

And you died loved.

Four;

You do not have to worry

About being beautiful

Or pretty

Or good-looking

Or handsome

Anymore

Because you aren’t.

Because once you are pale

And lifeless

And the spirit has left your eyes

And the soul - real or not -

Has left your body

You are no longer beautiful.

You do not have to worry

About someone finding your smile

Absolutely stunning

Or someone wishing their hair

Was just like yours

Or someone wanting your body.

You do not have to worry if you are

Worthless

Because now you have more worth

Than anybody ever should

Because you are so important

People will visit more than ever

And you are so important

You will be spilled from every mouth

For days

For weeks

For months

For years

Because you have so much worth

And importance

That you will take many hearts with you

As you go.

And you do not have to worry

About being loved

Because even though you are gone

And you cannot feel it

Everyone else will feel.

Oh, they will feel.

They will feel more love they have ever

Heard of,

Or felt,

Before.

And they will wonder why

It was not enough

To save you.

Because you died loved.

Five;

You need to know

That by making this choice

You are preventing the possibility

Of life getting better.

Yes, it is true

And it is insignificant.

The chances of life getting better

Are small

Are none

With the pain you are going through.

Death will be easier.

You will not have to feel the fear

As some days you can say are

Good

As you wonder if this is the warning

Before a terrible storm.

You will not have to feel the pain

Of losing someone you love

Or of loving someone

And wonder if they love you

Like they say they do.

You will not have to feel the nerves

Or going to school

Or meeting new people

Or traveling the world

Or getting a job.

You will not have to watch your

Children

Grow and grow

And wonder why they look up

To you

When all you did was

Survive.

You will not have to fear

That they have the same pain you did

As you shower them with so much

Love and acceptance

That they become more than you could’ve

Hoped for

As you lie down beside the love of your life

Or the latest person that makes you

Happy " man or woman "

And you will not have to worry

And stress

About getting older

Because you are already dead.

You will not have to know

That life isn't all pain

It isn't all happiness

There are dark times

There are light times

There are mixes

And this is life.

And you will die loved.

There you have it.

The first five things you must know

Before you take your life.

Remember this is your choice.

Remember that you are loved.

Remember that there is happiness.

Remember the faces of all those

You love,

The ones you care about.

Remember the smells of food cooking,

Or parks,

Or your car on a trip.

Remember that you are loved.

Remember the sensation of sleeping in,

Of a real hug,

Of a kiss " any kiss.

Remember who you were

One year ago

Five years ago

Ten years ago.

Remember who that little kid was

And their dreams

And what they wanted

And how they felt.

Remember the sensation of love.

The last number,

Six;

Remember that you are loved.

Remember that you will die loved.

Because the truth is,

They all died loved, my dear.

Every last one of them.

You.

Will.

Die.

Loved.

Do you mind if I share these words with someone tonight? I believe they need them more than I like to believe but it may just be enough.

As for the actual piece, this is phenomenal you definitely made your point and in such a loving, simple way. excellent job.
