** - HOW TO INSTALL WINDOWS.

(It is advised to disconnect all unnecessary devices and retry, if Windows Setup hangs or has errors.)

You'll likely need to enter your BIOS/UEFI, and switch to boot, to the Windows Setup disc, first.
Then, on Windows Setup's first reboot, catch your BIOS/UEFI again, and switch your boot order back.

Boot to the Windows disc (or flash drive) and do a full clean install.

During Setup, click Custom> Drive options > Delete all partitions, (unless you have data you're saving on them,) and then click on the Unallocated Space> Next.
To ensure that there are no networking complications, enter a password at the end of Setup.
When asked for a Windows Product Key, simply click Next.  You can enter it later.

** - HOW TO SETUP WINDOWS.

Seven or eight things that I like to do at this stage are:

0)  Extra Windows 10 Steps:

Uninstall Microsoft OneDrive:  In your Tray, click OneDrive> Help & Settings (gear icon, upper-right)> Settings>
Account> Unlink this PC> Unlink account> enter your 10 user name> Sign in> Next> Use this folder> turn off everything>
(If asked Where do you want to keep your files?> This computer only> Continue.)>
OK> Not now> Next> Next> Next> Later> Open my OneDrive folder> 'X'>
(You can now use OneDrive's View online and Recycle bin options, to delete online files if you'd like.)>
Start> Settings> Apps> Microsoft OneDrive> Uninstall> Uninstall> 'X'.

Also, right-click Taskbar> uncheck Show Task View button, / check Show Cortana button, / Search> click Show search icon.

1)  Run netplwiz to setup auto-logon.  (Had to use my Microsoft account (email) for Windows 10.)

Search netplwiz > uncheck Users must...> OK> enter your 10 password twice> OK.

IF THERE IS NO:  "Users must...", option, THIS, WILL FIX IT:
Search regedit > Navigate to Computer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion PasswordLess Device , where it says 'Computer'> Enter.
Double-click DevicePasswordLessBuildVersion> Value Data> 0 > OK> 'X'> *RESTART*, PC.  Search netplwiz > Enter.

2)  Make a shortcut to Computer on the Desktop and Taskbar.

Right-click your Desktop> New> Shortcut> Enter  explorer.exe ,0  > Next> Enter  Computer  > Finish.
Right-click your new shortcut> Properties> Change Icon...> in Look for icons... navigate to  C: Windows system32 imageres.dll  > click the Computer icon> OK> OK.
Drag it to your Taskbar.  (You may safely delete the one on your Desktop, if you'd like to.)

3)  Auto-Arrange Icons.

Right-click your Desktop> View> click Auto arrange icons.

4)  Turn off Hide extensions for known file types.

Open Computer> View> check File name extensions.

5)  Turn off UAC.

Search for UAC, hit Enter, Set to Never notify> OK> Yes.

6)  Adjust Sleep timers.

Right-click Desktop> Display settings> Power & sleep>  Screen 2 hours, Sleep Never> 'X'.

7)  Pin Notepad, Paint and Calculator to the Taskbar.

Start> Right-click Calculator> More> Pin to Taskbar.  Start> Windows Accessories> Right-click each> More> Pin to Taskbar.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////

(Install your network card driver if necessary.  It probably won't be.)  Connect to the Internet.
When prompted:  Set Network Location> Home Network> Next> Finish.

Do Windows Updates.  (Search> windows u )  (Sometimes updates fail.  Simply reboot and repeat the process, and they will all go in.)

Optional Updates have a chance of wrecking your Windows installation, requiring a re-installation of Windows, to fix it correctly.
Due to their ages, installing Optional Updates on Windows 7 is mostly safe, while installing Optional Updates on Windows 10 is mostly dangerous.
(On Windows 10, do all updates on the main page, but do not do any updates on the View optional updates page, unless you know you need to.)

Reboot when prompted.  Return to Windows Update.  Re-scan for updates if none are shown.  Install them all and reboot again when prompted.  Repeat this, until you cannot get any more.
[If you can't get any, and you know your network is connected, then proceed to skip this step.]

At this point, it is wise to install your video card manufacturer's driver, and any other drivers that are missing.

[WINDOWS SETUP COMPLETE.]
