Lausanne 1840

Lausanne 1840

A Poem by Silmara McGarry

  He walks in brisk pace

The hat firmly seated on his head

Heart beating swiftly as an uncontrollable drum

The fairest red rose in his hand

In his mind, a thousand thoughts of what to say to her,

than he finally sets for the rarest of them all

In his deep wishes, he desires to be loved by her,

to be lifted to her never seen magic realms

Now he can glance her by the lake, dressed in a light mint dress,

embroidered with tin white silk laces

Her hat carefully placed as if seating on a unique flower

Her jasmine essence, perfuming the air all around her

She turns to him and smile, as though he was set by precious hands

He looks in her eyes and with the touch of her hand,

his heart stops pounding, he feels an enormous peace

Their past world was finished right there and then,

and a new time began that day, like it was all assembled by God.

This is such a beautiful soft poem with absolutely wonderful imagery that just sticks out in your head! The colors are so bright and vivid, but the image you chose only adds to your words, but of course, your words are the ones doing all the work! I can feel the passion and effort in each word. Not to mention a past life? I absolutely love that concept and I'm a sucker for anything to do with that, and history, different decades and such.

'Their past world was finished right there and then, and a new time began that day, like it was all assembled by God.' Such a strong intense finish and line that you should be extremely proud of! Your poetry is full of love and goodness. Thank you for sharing!

You have described Lausanne so well, tis a city of great elegance and its people full of pride and dignity. Not surprisingly that setting and warmth is exactly.. EXACTLY, the place where two people can meet, look around and know they are safe to move friendship into a relationship and more.. much more. Your writing always holds touches of magic - this is no exception,.Plus, have a feeling there might mbe truth here.. but then, not for me to ask. :) Hugs.

Love makes the world go round... and it always will! To live without love is to not really live at all. Even if we lose love, we look for it again!

Despite your fluent details trying to place this scene into "Lausanne 1840" . . . to me this sounds like everyday daydreaming that happens in every century on every continent! *wink! wink!* I'd almost forgotten how tempting such a reverie can be, picturing all the ways life & love used to get all fluffed up with sensory delight (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
