Bridge to Ashes

Bridge to Ashes

A Poem by SignifiedG

In case you haven't noticed,

I've been a little out of focus

These last few months have changed me

In ways that I did not expect.

It took longer than I thought,

to break the veil of pain, distraught

I tried to hold my head up high

but I could not find the strength.

My reflection glazed me over and

met my shadow, true exposure

to the lies that I had told myself

the goals I had put on the shelf

the anger into which I delved

the resentment that I fiercely held

the fairy tales I told myself

the mem'ries I no longer felt

the rage that had so long been calm

beat the f*****g s**t right out of me

The hardened shell fell to the floor

The tears rolled freely, bursting forward

And for a moment I walked a path

To my former self, no turning back.
