Carbon Copy

Carbon Copy

A Poem by Alicia™
"

A carbon copy, a flawless imitation

"
You know how it is,
The way the girls scream;
The way we chant his name,
And you know you wish
It could be you
Instead.

You try to be him;
Everything you say,
Every move you make "
It echoes of him.

I’m not going to fall
For your perfect
Little act;
The charade you’re
Putting on.

A carbon copy,
A flawless imitation,
But that’s all you are;
A carbon copy,
And nothing more.

I'm getting that it's two guys, and One is rather well known. The other simply copies him. The Narrator, whether it's you or a character, is saying that he/she is not going to fall for the immitation's act.

Is that right?

Anyways, I thought it was very good and I like poems that require a bit of thought and connection.

I love this write! But imitation is the best form of flattery now, isn't it? :P It does get a bit irritating at times and the one who copies doesn't realize that what makes the person worthy of being imitated is the fact he/she is unique!

imitation is the highest form of flattery, unfortunately it means that someone hasn't gone the confidence or imagination to be themselves...nice work

I imagine the person being talked to a shadow of another seemingly perfect being. He loses his own personality to try and be someone better, but someone not him. So albeit the outside allure, you still cannot appreciate it because it's explicitly clear that he's fake, just an almost-real copy of another. Great job. [:

You let us see through the life of someone else what often takes place in ourselves... wanting so much to be another... losing sight of who we are... becoming a fake.. So intriguing and well written!
