My Perception

My Perception

A Poem by Sierra Erway

What I see
and what really is
aren't the same.
My perception
of this reality
is outrageously
Altered.
(I have found
windows
to see
how life should really be.)
NO.
Others' perceptions
collide with mine
and send me
Reeling,
into a mess of confusion
and contemplation.
Sometimes it hurts,
so I disconnect.
Withdraw completely
from this reality,
Living in my own world
for a while...
But then, eventually,
I get pulled back,
one way or another,
And I digress
Back
into a simple state
of sadness.
