The Shore of Our Sanity

The Shore of Our Sanity

A Poem by Sierra Erway

Sitting alone, now, on the grey, cold shore...

Watching the angry waves crash onto the sand...

Lightening cracks across the sky

and I remember you...

How mad you were at me.

The thunder roars, like your voice when you yelled at me...

The goosebumps on my pale, chilled skin remind me of my fear of losing you

to the storm we caused...

Words pelting us hard, like a freezing rain.

Like bullet holes ripping through delicate emotions...

The tears falling from my vacant eyes are all too familiar...

The crashing of waves like crashing of fists on walls and doors...

The grey that is surrounding me is like a blanket of memories and truth...

And I know now what I must do to have you forgive me...

You disappeared, like the changing tide...

And so will I...

I'll let this ocean breeze sweep me away into oblivion...

Your heart is flooded and drowned...

I will be too...

And nobody, but you, will know...

As I sit alone, on the grey, cold shore

of my sanity...

And soak in the memories.

And carry out the solution to our pain...
