A Long Cold Winter

A Long Cold Winter

A Poem by Sierra Erway

The snow is falling on my face.

And covering my body on the ground...

I can't get up;

I'm paralyzed.

Stuck here in this place.

The ground around me has disappeared-

under a layer of white.

The layer getting thicker,

thicker,

and thicker still,

And I am still here.

the sky is fading to dark,

everything is gone.

Out of sight.

I see nothing.

I can feel the snow cover my face;

frozen and cold.

I am numb.

As night fades to day,

I see...

Nothing...

Everything is gone.

I am gone.

Dead,

dead,

and dead still.
