the dead tree.

the dead tree.

A Story by Sierra

if you plant roses in the spring,
when they bloom, they dance in the wind like birds wings
if you plant turnips in the garden,
along with parsley and teas,
they will bloom too,
but water is still what they all need.

next to the garden is the tree,
the one with its trunk so hollow, and branches bare.
although it's summer time, no leaves are there.
instead of hearing the whispering of the wind through the leaves,
the sticks shimmer and shake, rubbing against one another.
until they inevitably break off and leave.

sure, you could plant a garden next to that tree,
and take care of the turnips, parsley, and teas.
you could grow an array of flowers around the trunks base.
but it does not change the trees cold face.

and just like the tree,
the flowers will die off too.
no matter how many roses you think you could foresee,
a dead tree is still a dead tree.
