Gone

Gone

A Poem by Sierra Nerys
"

this poem is about the death of one of my family members. It's a different type of poem for me- there's no rhyme, but I wanted to try something new.

"

Crystal clear drops

spiraling down from the graying sky

drops blending with those pouring down my cheeks

a steady stream of salt and sadness.

The water, cold and piercing

burns as it strikes my even colder skin

frozen from the knowledge of what happened,

frozen from the cool autumn air.

Cars driving by don’t spare me a glance

their shiny exteriors gleaming as they blur past

sitting here in plain sight,

I may as well be in a world of my own.

Sounds blend together, nothing distinct

beads of water slapping the ground and roof as they fall

people inside, waiting for me to join them...

I will myself to move

my palms scratch the rough stone step below me

I stand still for a moment, waiting to regain my balance

then, I face reality, feeling more alone than I ever have.

Talking about me isn't something I'm great at, so I'll just tell you why I'm here. I love to write, and most of the outlets I've used don't get me very far in sharing my work with other people. Critic.. more..
