Just Because

This was written for a fundraiser my family hosted to help a local family whose house had recently burned down. I think this is the other poem I have published (if I remember correctly).

A simple chord
A string of words
A song of love
That's filled with hurt

A heart, a soul, a family's home
Went up in flames
Came down in soot
The sky it filled
With clouds of smoke
And a bright blue sky
Became grey once more

We do what we do
Because we can
Because its right
Because the world is never fair
Or just because, because we care.
