Sea Glass

Sea Glass

A Poem by Sierra Nerys

One night, one man, one too many
One beach, one bottle, one tide
The stars, the moon, reflect on the water
Blurred by the breaking waves
A sudden crash breaks the calm
As glass meets rock
Silence

The roll of sea smoothed stones
As the shards slowly slip out of sight
Unnoticed by all

The sweet taste of salt air
As the water laps a young girl’s feet
With her she carries a basket
Full of her new found treasure
A glint catches her eye
And there, on the sand, she spots it
Sea glass.

The imagery is really vivid, like what Mica said, I like the contrast of the two scenes. It signals at something bigger (how things can be different via different perspectives). Cool poem.

I like the blend of a harsher reality of the man destroying the bottle into a young girl collecting that glass later on. That contrast is really interesting I think :)
I don't know if I'm just being weird, but it kind of plays out like a little movie, with the first scene and the last scene being that contrast, and the little verse in the middle kind of that transitiony scene?
