How I Met YouA Poem by Siddartha Beth PierceThe moment I saw you
there was a beat to your gait
I could not wait
to be closer to you
for the first time
Coffee was the plan
although we found ourselves
with hot chocolate in hand
You and I
both clad that October
in weather worn leather
jackets
Our eyes met
as we wondered
is this he
is this she
that I have spoken with so often
yet have yet to meet in person
Now before one another
we say our timid hellos
beginning a relationship
that was meant to be
a new friendship
Instead we have found
ourselves
enveloped over the months
with one anothers' love.
That first day
you walked me to my car
I wondered and wished
if it were appropriate to kiss
yet I knew it was not
and it would prove to be many
more meetings before such
a thing came to fruition.
All the better
a true romance
a true friendship
a true courtship
in which I have grown to know
you in a way in which I have no other
and long for noone else but you
each and every evening
and each every morn.
