How I Met You

How I Met You

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

The moment I saw you
there was a beat to your gait
I could not wait
to be closer to you
for the first time

Coffee was the plan
although we found ourselves
with hot chocolate in hand

You and I
both clad that October
in weather worn leather
jackets

Our eyes met
as we wondered
is this he
is this she
that I have spoken with so often
yet have yet to meet in person

Now before one another
we say our timid hellos
beginning a relationship
that was meant to be
a new friendship

Instead we have found
ourselves
enveloped over the months
with one anothers' love.

That first day
you walked me to my car
I wondered and wished
if it were appropriate to kiss
yet I knew it was not
and it would prove to be many
more meetings before such
a thing came to fruition.

All the better
a true romance
a true friendship
a true courtship
in which I have grown to know
you in a way in which I have no other
and long for noone else but you
each and every evening
and each every morn.

Very good poem as per usual! Full of wistful glances and just generally nice things. I found placing the rhythm difficult, and perhaps that's just because it's early in the morning and I am without coffee, but i think this just added to the airyness and floatiness of the whole piece. Very well done :)

Oh I love it :)

How we dream and wish of such situations and yet...they come true!

Wonderful warm words. x

Your pieces tell a wonderful story, and have a wonderful canvas of colors depicted by your chosen words.

I can feel your aura, and I love it, it is very bright and positive.

I am in a visual addiction, you know how to paint with words.

A wonderful piece.

What a beautiful love sonet. As I know of whom you speak of. Nicely written. Flowing ever so beautifuly, just as it all HAS unfolded.

Excellently written. I have to agree completely with Bridgey; it's very Siddartha. :) All of your writing has a flowing, airy, light grace to it, usually with hints of nostalgia. This piece is a culmination of all that you are as a writer, and it's amazing.

My one critique would be to revise this line: "yet have yet to meet in person." The two "yet"'s, so close together, offsets the rhythm of the piece a little. Nothing major, but you might consider it.

Overall, a fine work. :D

It has a tone of excitement - the thrill of a new romance. But on the other hand, it also made me feel comfortable. very well done.

'weather worn leather' and 'timid hellos' are my favourite parts as they capture the gentle excitement of the moment. I also like the way the relationship takes hold in a slow-burn way.

Very true one, and it sounds very familiar to me...;) Keep writing, my friend! I'll review your other writing soon too, I'm sure I'll like it!

Wonderfully romantic and sweet; a clandestine meeting of the minds turned to love over coffee ( or cocoa) I think the chocolate more appropriate for loving lines as sweet as these.
