Deja-Vu

Deja-Vu

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

In the beginning

was the end as in

the end was the

beginning-

the cycle continues on

as we recall, relive

the days of yore

once more-

washed upon

our shores from ancient

continents-

to be reborn, set free

created yet already

complete within the

constructs of contemporary

history.

Repetition, once again

begins anew with few

changes from that which

has passed before us

eons before while

most do not realize

they are reliving

moments gone by,

often a sense

of ennui

ensues in this mad-

minded composition of

deja-vu.

After reading the short series of *Our Story* it puts the human experience into context. This poem brings it all into a full circle. Having such passion bring one into existence is sure to leave images burnt into the mind and spirit. The energy in your work never seems to die. You are a master of manipulating time. What is generally believed to be a constant...is reduced to variable in your hands.

Very beautiful; an interesting glance at where the feeling of deja-vu comes from. According to the poem it seems to be memories from past lives people have lived in times that have already transpired in some form or another. Though I personally don't believe that, it's still a cool idea and definitely something to entertain the mind with the possibility of. Did I believe in such things, you would definitely be an old soul, riding the crest of time's energy wave. Very powerful stuff. It also reminds me of the logarithmic spiral and the Fibonacci sequence that underlines most of nature. That is something I believe in.

why do I get a sense of deja-vu reading this poem, like I've seen it before, like there's something familiar about it?

washed upon/our shores from ancient/continents

love the imagery in this line and the metaphorical way that it describes reminscence!

some really thought-stirring stuff in this poem Sid!

Different dimensions in time because time is not linear, the same reason the scientists can never map the universe. It receds backwards in time the further they reach. Great piece.

Ah ha!! So that is why I am moving to apartments east and putting things in pretty much the same local as moving them from? ;~) Repetition... gee I've had many a job in my past in which the entire work shift was nothing but, repetitive actions and the reason I had carpel tunnel syndrome for a long time. ;~)

Correct, the repetition does often seem like deja-vu, but then it vanishes and we're onto other adventures until the next "didn't I do this before" thought comes to mind. ;~)

Fun to read this write!! Thanks for sharing!! Sallie Bear
