Breathtaking

Breathtaking

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce
"

for those few moments in time...

"

There are those

few moments

in your life

when your breath

is taken

straight away

from you.

The first view

of my newborn son

once he was

yanked out-

the most beautiful

thing I had

ever seen.

The feel

of the Rothko Room-

his paintings,

spirit

surrounding me

in the gallery.

I felt as if

his soul, gone

now from suicide

might actually

walk through one

of his canvases

towards me.

The feel of the

rain-

outside a church

on 5th street

in Washington, D.C.

after a Fugazi

concert.

Us, teenage kids

dripping with

sweat

as it had been from

the ceilings

within,

cleansed by

the heavens.

These are the moments

I recall

as breathtaking-

ones I shall

never forget-

the emotion

Love

the taste

Salt

the feel

Power

the sound

Silence

the scent

Purity

the sight

Light.

What and awesome poem!! I'll have to spend a little time thinking back upon my memories to recall the breath-taking moments I've experienced.

One for sure was the first trip west when I first saw the Rocky Mountains in the distance, still several driving days away. Thanks for sharing your memories and reminding me of my own.
