We Sang the Scent

We Sang the Scent

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

We sang the scent

of sandalwood

a musky, manly

fragrance divine

to ripen up the mind.

We sang the scent

of lavendar

an odor so profound

to obliterate

any headache

smells of grass

fresh woodland air

so fair.

We sang the scent

of vanilla

of fresh linens on

the bed

a soft pillow or bosom

to lay your head

sticky, wet

like a lover's nest.

We sang the scent

of cinnamon

an aphrodisiacal

aroma I've been told

burn it in your pots

at Christmastime

to bring True Love nigh.

We sang the scent

of gardenia

a summer's breeze

fragrant, full

and sweet

the smell of your

lover's hair

or that of a child

playing in the

midnight air.

This is a truely beautiful piece and it fits so well. I can honestly say that the three pieces you have submitted to Feeling Colour, Tasting sound.

The imagery is so realistic to, especially since all of these scents are ones i am quite fond of, and the way you have displayed them succinctly and georgously in an almost dream like haze.

The flow of it is nice, like smoke or cool water, smooth and flawless.

I love the way you enticed me with my nose. This poems has a huge effect on me, I think it's the way you used the senses to define things. It's a beautiful poem with amazing descriptions. Felt like I sang the scent with you too. A really good poem, I'm making it a favorite.

A very creative and beautiful subject! We don't often think about our sense of smell, but I've been thinking lately about how certain smells some of the most powerful memories of our past. Thank you for this wonderful sensory poem! :)

Very creative touch

At times, somewhat to abstract for me

The subject matter was well conceived

I enjoyed the read
