Set Aflame

Set Aflame

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Staring at that blank page

that is your face

bolting doors upon me

when I do not follow your embrace

as closely as you would like.

Staring at that blank page

pondering what to write

my way out of this conundrum

of you and me set wrong

in the world as communication

lacks the fifty cents it needs

to call for help

in such situations.

Staring at that blank page

that was me

before you helped my color flow

then flew away

frightened by my brilliant hues

set aflame.

For some reason, this reminds me of how much time one (like me) sometimes spends at their passion, occasionally at the forsakenness of all others, and, all else. Like so many other things, it can become addictive. Better than being strung out on crack though right? Yes, but still, it can be quite challenging on the day to day. Oh well, fire up another computer, I've got another poem to smoke out, for tomorrow, my friends, is promised to nobody.

Thank you for this Sid!
(I probably didn't make any sense lol)

As always, I liked it very much. This poem gave me a dream-like sense while reading it, because of the rapidly changing imagery. You have a very good poem here. Keep up the good work!

Well said for all of us whose muse is a complex temperamental partner filling our head with insightful narrative and colored opinions caught up in it's own moods.Great cathartic confession! Great surrender to your Art!
