Ochre

Ochre

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Ochre is the color

of my mood today

a somber hue

one of dismay

Though the sun

shines brightly

ever nigh

I know not where

this pallor of a feeling

comes from

Only that it lingers on

A yellowish tinge

of disease, decay

has clamored

beneath my skin

If I scratch it long enough

hopefully

it will eventually bleed away

as if it had never been.

Beautifully done. You turned a color into so much emotion-and, made me love a poem about one of the ugliest of the colors. May your mood not often be in ochre, but may your writes always be this good.
