I didn't think about it till after I read it a time or two, that I picked another poem of yours, about eyes.
This one hit home really well. Yes, at some point the eyes are going to reveal everything, whether you intend to or not. And then I've met people (like myself) who kind of just have those distant eyes, in general. Deep thinkers perhaps? I don't know. What I do know is that I'm really enjoying your poetry. I also know that I hope you two can work it out, and somehow, see eye to eye again.

Socrates I see
you've questioned me
and a thousand times
heartily so smartly
thus do I ask if
you are able
to display in love
your offers
on this table
to fill souls' coffers
with endless
reverence
or is it only for she
to ponder her
relevance
to you?
This is an interesting new tact for you and very curious to read, in fact in spite of my attempts at eloquence I'm not sure who questions who in this clever instance, succinct and direct yet open ended, well penned Sid! Let him not be offended...by your distant eyes
Robin
Eyes are windows to our cores. I hope the questions raised were all answered positively. This poem is a lovely, gentle flow of emotions, thank you for sharing.
Ah, I'm just putting myself into your poem!! And a fine poem it be!! ;~)
Thanks for posting it and reminding me of what was within my life, long ago; it was good, just couldn't last.
