The Drowning

The Drowning

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Tides united with the full moon

the ocean cries a mournful tune

where your life was taken

to a watery grave

a fortnight ago

at this place along the beach

you left your clothes

piled in a heap

simply walked into the sea

without a doubt

in your mind

about

those of us you left behind

to ponder why it was

you left us here

alone

without you evermore

my brother dear

if I could say just one

last thing

it is that I will

always love you

even though

you made this choice

sent your voice

below the surface

of the moon and sea

that fateful night

how are we to carry on

without this true loved one

I will continue to cherish you

now rest in peace

you troubled soul.

This piece sent chills down the length of my spine - a sign of true talent. So poignant and yet written with such an ethereal quality. The line that evoked the most for me:

"you made this choice - sent your voice - below the surface - of the moon and sea"

~A very stirring, heartfelt write~

I can hear that cool hollow breeze that rushes just across the surface of the placid waters at the crack of dawn, and in the twilight of cold, dark night. Like a ghostly love song. Serene.

oh a tragic woe and who has not been allured to the immured surrender of the deep deep down deep below where we all go -- it is also why we meditate as we dive deep there too no longer diminished or damned by our ego lies and fears unwise -- a woeful write Sidd and sorry for your loss --

Beautiful but intensely sad. Enjoy the streamline of the physical format. Perfect little bits for the reader to absorb about such a heavy topic.
