In Her Head as Friends

In Her Head as Friends

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Sickly sweet

the double edged sword

of desire

where one falls short

and another calls for more

what can be done

it is unfair

when it is but sided

on behalf

of she who can

no longer

bring herself

to fulfill that which

he truly does admire

so they pass their days

slowly

apart

while one thinks of nothing

other than how

to make amends-

the other doth remain

in her head

as friends.

This poem is powerful in the sense that it can go many directions.

The double edge sword of desire....What a GREAT! line.

I see the longing of love, set aside by respect of another as a friendship.
I also see the love between two, separated by a distance of not understanding the other (As in a long term relationship, or marriage) one trying to show the other their true feelings of admiration for the other.

The longing of friendship of wanting to start over.

Does this make sense...lol

Excellent rhyming and lyricality. I can hear it like the thoughts of an angel scorned or a vampire powerful but forgotten, neglected somehow. Like a heroine fighting the great cause, and coming home to no one, heart breaking and yet lovely, sentimental, romantic. Sheeeesh, you know how to slay a guy!

I really liked this poem, especially how it's essentially one thought just broken up into small lines. That's really original and makes it very fun to read! I also liked how you tied the title in at the end, great job! ^_^
