The Iris Given

The Iris Given

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

We awake to find

the majestic royal

purple delight

of the Iris

spreading its wings

this delightful Spring morning

yellow throated being

greets the day

we pluck it from its mossy place

put it in a vase

to pass it on to a sick friend

in hopes that in its giving life

will heal her of her pain.

I never thought of giving flowers as get well gifts in such away.... It's beautiful.
