Take Heed from Fountain Pen

Take Heed from Fountain Pen

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Cucumber melon treats

sure sound neat

in waxifieng poetic schemes

dripped upon the pages

my flesh

set about in unrest

fluttering in the breeze

unforeseen

until they are unloosed

upon the likes of you

have you got a clue

of what these words are here for

to make your bodies rise, your soul soar

your mind grapple

with that with plagues us so

in the arms of the muse

we set about abused

most often by ourselves

the greatest and most hinderous

hideous critic of all

willing to scrawl

black paint over the pen

ink it out again

as if it never were

there for you to ponder

that muse has taken flight

inspired by the moonlight

in its place remains the gloom

of a sunny afternoon-

shining brightly forth

with smiles upon the sun

daunting the ones

that take heed from fountain pen

and feed it 'til the end.

You write with such beautiful eloquence! Wow.
I love the way your words became liquid,
like the ink they speak of,
flowing across my screen,
dripping,
drop by
drop
onto
these pages and then
pooling up in our minds
causing us to think! Brilliant!

Wow, I love this piece! I was completely entranced from the first word to last and I have to say this is my favorite bit:
that muse has taken flight
inspired by the moonlight
in its place remains the gloom
of a sunny afternoon-
The whole piece just flowed really great and kept me intrigued. Excellent write!!

I really liked this and thought it was very creative. You have pushed the lines of normality and knocked the dust off the formal style with this. I love to see a writer work within their own ideas of what is abd should be and not fall victim to trying to force the flow of thoughts into something that has no life of its own. You have written something different and wonderful here.

Great Job!!!!!

So incredibly playful, as the words seem alive on the page. Brilliant dance of poetry. Wonderful!

Ach, 'the gloom of a sunny afternoon shining brightly forth' is a wonderful line, so daintily ironic. Here we are wrestling with some poem and there nature is mocking us all with its beauty as we plod along. This doubles the annoyance of the poem not working, or any failure. And the notion in the last line is strong, too. Unlike a junkie feeding his habit we feed the fountain pen with our lives. We put our lives outside ourselves rather than putting the drug into our lives. Pen and needle = addiction. Does this make writer's block a kind of cold turkey? Enjoyed this for its thoughtfulness and gentle execution.

'Grappling' with the desire to write thoughts that are both expressive of ourselves and meaningful to others.

You've done a fine job of both in the words of you poem.

Thanks for the send.
