Ipecaced

Ipecaced

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

When you were three

you said to me with your eyes

I beseech you

Should I partake in this berry

that you offer-

'Oh yes, my dear' was my reply

at the tender age of five

the pokeberry is a delicay in these parts-

and so she ate

my sweet sis

the sinister that I had given

immediately I felt wrong

and chased my parents down

so they ipecaced my poor, young one

for the treasure that I had found

and forced upon her.

Wow! Such an angel with a dirty face! Children are the medals that are attracted to curiosity like magnates. Thank goodness your sister was treated; and that you felt suitably guilty if this story was true. It's such a innocently sinister write that engrossed me.

Yes you got the scene explicitly without getting judgement in the way - made me see this

This is a well expressed confession. You allow us to visualize the scene with surprisingly few words. Really well done.
