Upon My Doorstep

Upon My Doorstep

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Once you came to my door

a darling smile you bore

within your eyes I saw

the sweet dance of love

unforsaken-

by anything, anyone

that stepped before us

they would immediately turn to dust

with the casting of your stare-

a magic duo to be sure

is what we were-

yet you had to go away

and to this day

I remember you fondly-

those eyes

that could melt the polar icecaps

flooding the world with our tears.

Hello Siddartha, (one of my favorite books)
Your poem was most touching. I usually do not quite feel this way (guess I'm just not that romantic...or just too old) but your piece was well written...and somehow conveyed that terrible sadness...comprised in grace and tenderness. Very delicate job. I was moved.
Best,
GA

Nice job! I like the rhythm and movement of it.
