A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

These wondrous dreams

cry out scenes

that weave wonderful stories

I know consciously

could play across the pages

in terrific memories

of the night's passing.

Yet, awake I forget to remember them

in all their glory

failing to pass upon the tales

that entertain me so

in my night's rampage

within the Sublime light

that dreamer's delight

is beyond my reach

once I awake

and another

story goes untold

fails to unfold

from my writer's hand

and I am forced

to take the course

of writing consciously awake each morn.

When the nights dreams

are much more fanciful

full of depth yet I can not pass them on

as the morning dew pales in the sunlight

so do my memories of the night

and the perfect schemes of the poet's mind

forever at work, even in sleep

so I fail to give to thee

the memories unfolded in the dark.

I only wish I could train my mind

to unwind

the words, the imagery,

the music

that comes to me

in sleep

each eve

yet upon the fluttering of my eyes

they take flight

into the night

forgotten in the morn.

A mystery to me

although in sleep

I felt them deeply moving

I knew even though I dreamt

they wove tales important to share

yet they fly away without a care

when I awake

and I am forced to traverse

with the notebook

words weak

not nearly as strong

as those born of the dreaming mind

stories conceived subliminally

linked to that which is

Primordially Free.

Oh, wow, Siddartha, I love this. How beautifully you capture my own frustrations at losing the memory of such fantastic dreams. I have wonderful dream journeys, the snippets of which make no sense when I awake, yet it all made such perfect sense in my dream. And I can never go back...have felt sad many times when stirred from sleep, unable to get back to the incredible tale that was unfolding in my mind. Very nice write.

i like the coveyance of inner thoughts here. if it is not spontaneous prose which i did not take it for being i think it could flow a little better but i loved the dialogue

I can't say with extreme confidence that I forget my dreams...at least, not the good ones. My dreams are about the only thing I can remember. But you poem convey the feeling nonetheless. It was most enjoyable to read.

the title rebuke my reluctance to make reviews for tonight, and i hesitate no more coz this is the most WOW piece i've read so far... Siddartha, you're my best poet! it went with my soul as i read this. not the usual dream-weaving poems, you gave such delight a poet would want from other poet collaboratively. you inspired me... keep me inspired!! KUDOS!!! i hope this will get in the top writer's page!!! and add this to my faves too...

well i can understand what you mean because i would want my dreams to be what most people call reality, because my reality sucks. but alas i wake up staring at the same sun that many have wished was their dreqam world and stubbornly get up and put myself thru holy hell yet another day. this is like a mile marker and leaves you longing and wanting more. it was a pleasure to read thank you!

This is so awesome. I know my dreams have meanings....and can't recall dreaming in quite some time, actually. I used to use a tape recorder...so as not to have to get up and put on the lights...but, still, if you're not quick enough...as you say...it eludes us. : (
This piece was so dreamy to read...although you couldn't get us the message you wanted..you gave us one we can all relate to. I often lose words upon words and poems upom poems because they come at inconvenient times....in the shower...while laying in bed next to my sleeping man (it's rare that he does sleep)...when I haven't a pen or can't get my hand on my tape recorder down at the bottom of my endless pit purse...or, while dreaming. I've been told a clear quartz crystal under the pillow will record...and play back when held in the palm of your hand in the morning....but, I've yet to try it myself. Better luck next time...and don't fret too much....you still got a glorious poem out of it in the end. Much love and many blessings~~

Smooth almost ethereal. Captures the surreality of the dream extremly well. A favourite of yours.

I too often forget my dreams. It's a frustrating thing, especially if I instantly remember it as I wake, then forget the specifics only a moment later to be left with the feeling I had, of love or pleasure, or whatever. Anyway, I really like your style of poetry, the topics, the flow, the voice, the diction. It's all very well!

I'm not sure how to express my feelings for this write, except that I love it. It kept me engulfed within it's words.
Many times I've dreamt dreams of untold tales, yet in my mind, when I wake, they dissapear within the folds of my conciousness, causing me to forget then, and they, forgetting me.
