I Wish You Could Have Seen

I Wish You Could Have Seen

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

I wish you could have seen

how your eyes welled forth

the weeping of spring-

tears of regret

for that you have not become yet.

A promise you seemed to have made

to those generations before you

although in my eyes

you were perfection surmised.

I wish you could have seen

those tears of yours turn to snow

within the embers glow

of the candlelight before us

our souls clinging to one another

as the rose rises the trellis

we were blessed to be together.

Yet you could not see

your soul had darkened me

while mine only warmed

hotter than the flame.

I dared not speak your name

as you could not bear to hear

a word that you felt

you could not live up to

in others eyes.

I wish you could have seen

but your soul, heart, mind were blind

to the love I had for you

although I will forever remain true

in hopes that one day you will glimpse

the beckoning of my sweet kiss

to take your pain away.

I wish you could have seen

the love we all felt for you

in those eyes of yours-azure blue

a sea turned to swampland

with the beckoning of my hand.

The entire piece is quite moving and first hand. The last stanza though, is perfection.... left me smiling through the tears.

Such a delicate melancholy piece. Beautifully written. Well done.
