Strawberry Delights

Strawberry Delights

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Sweet juices run down

the throat

upon the lips

summer's fruitful bliss

a bounty gathered

in crops spread wide

on either side

of the bed.

The highway

where we pick our

fill in green plastic boxes

bursting forth as each

delicious berry too-

explodes with crimson tones.

Our plans to can them

drop them in our ice cream

a true summer's dream

and place them in our

morning cereal-

a day's toil in the fields

has granted us a hefty yield

of delicious raw

strawberry delights

that we delight

upon each evening and each morn.

I could feel the juice on your lips and slipping down your throat in that bed where the cream comes on tap as well.... and then the pleasures of hand-picked fruit... of a daily repast, of raw delights that stir and satisfy... swelling and exploding... uh hu!

What a delight this is for sure! I'm reminded of times gone by picking strawberries with my family as a child. We would eat them until our stomach was hurting. lol. Your visuals in this poem are so vivid. Your words paint a beautiful picture, and quite delicious as well!

Sensual, yet as everday as morning's breakfast cereal.

Once again, you hit a target with this one. A slice of life through the lens of the strawberry.

Ah... what a delightful expectation of the season to come. I do love strawberries. This is so well expressed. It makes me hungry.
