Hollywood CemeteryA Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce...a favorite haunt of ours...Ivy entwined tombs of the young one hundred years back or more defects from the flu a Mother and Father buried with six infants in tow-
None growing or breeding breathing or living beyond six months of age such was the stage at Hollywood Cemetery Richmond, Virginia-
Where they have also laid to rest a few dead presidents, my great uncle too and now his love, Aunt Ida Gray have come to pass their days among the graves of the infants wild from a hundred years ago.
One girl's tomb has a statue of a dog set upon her grave at her side by some kind hearted fellow that felt the young ones that lost their lives so early needed some guarding.
My son and I run about within the iron gates of Hollywood Cemetery to place upon their spots McDonald's toys to bring them joy once again in their passing.
The young children gone though are the ones that touch us so- tiny headstones, with names rubbed out in the weather's grasping.
