EternityA Poem by Siddhartha ChatterjeeAbsurd realityLooks like it’s burning down, From the crazy mind it’s
trickling down, You feel the heat right on your
face, in disgrace, you’re swept away, All the way... just all night
and day - And it makes you wonder, they
said it’s a daisy world Like the snake inside, cold and
curled. Till it comes out, till it
lashes down and under - And then it thunders, ‘cause
you made a blunder, You can’t ask how…the question
is why. And then it thunders, ‘cause
you made a blunder, The earth is parched, and so is
the sky - And when it thunders, you know
you made a blunder, The breaking glass and
bloodshot eyes - When they move inside. Our deepest fear comes alive. It’s very strange, this
mind-numbing change, and you take a shot at the rain… And it simply rolls again…and again. It’s time to run and hide, when
you feel like drowning in the tide, Let’s just drag it a while,
let’s just feel it slide, this dark, gleaming blade. And then it thunders, you made
a blunder, You know it well, and aren’t
you chained? When it thunders, you feel the
blunder, It screams at you, it scratches
you, and it kills your brain, And when it thunders, you see
your blunder, You see it burn and it makes
you insane, You know it thunders, ‘cause
you made a blunder, Still life rolls away - You
live but you don’t see a way, You take it up where you left
it off, Only to pick up the ashes,
through the gnashes, where the dead snake lay - And then you see what’s right, you hold on with all your might - So when it thunders, you know you made a blunder. © 2019 Siddhartha Chatterjee |
