Feeling

Feeling

A Poem by Sian Jo Fitzpatrick

As way of greeting people tend to ask how you are.

What if by chance you answered with an unexpected response.

I tell them that, "I don't feel well."

And they respond by asking which part of my body hurts.

That's the difficult part, nowhere hurts at least nowhere that's visible to the human eye.

What if I told them that my mind hurts, that with every lie I speak the pressure on my chest gets heavier and heavier.

Do you think they'd still ask me how I was then?

This is so relatable! Often we hesitate, thinking that telling people what we are feeling will make us sound vulnerable.. And when we do it seems we have bared ourselves whole..
Heart-felt read!

I'm glad you find meaning in my words and that I was able to portray these emotions correctly.
