Guilty Until Proven Innocent

Guilty Until Proven Innocent

A Poem by SiYM

Quarantined like an animal, a murderer

Blood smeared across her like battery acid after a car accident

She was the ultimate suspect, 13 inch bayonet

Sliced the body

Blade shimmered like rain from clouds

Blood scintillating- it was a pond.

Her body crumbled in the corner of her cell

They asked questions, hassling her

She stared as they yelled, trying to wrangle with her

Limbs severed from the victim

The extensions were pruned as branches from a spruce.

The concrete in her Bastille was infested with December’s night breeze

The cold turned even her brown eyes blue

She felt nauseated knowing her hands never crucified.
