NIGHT AND I

That moment of satisfaction when it's just you and the loud sky...

Under the centuries old tree I sat,
Gazing at the millions of iridescent stars above me,
Winking playfully, sending chills down my spine
Never ceasing to amaze me.

Hands behind my head, I breathed in deep
letting the scent of the dying embers tickle my nose.
Exhaling a week's stress,
I felt at peace.

A gentle breeze played with my long curly hair,
while the soft grass danced in the wind.
Enjoying their prominent company,
I smiled to myself.

Envisioning the next escape from reality to experience nature at its best,
I felt sparks of excitement course through my veins.
But right now I closed my eyes, living the moment,
Feeling my spirit hover and ride into the infinite darkness.
It's just me and the night sky...

It reminded me of sitting in the woods
closing my eyes and drifting off to sleep
all while listing to one of my dogs wondering
snuffling and chasing birds

Loved the opening verse - It set the scene to well and your wording you used for the stars was so real. The whole poem gave a great sense of being alone and at one with all the elements around - peace and tranquilty, I think are the words to sum it up.
Really nicely worded and a great sense of calm.
