Happy Face

Happy Face

A Chapter by Shy Joe

look at my smile
see my confidence
witness my swag
embrace my handshake

soak in my lie

ignore my pain
don't look at the tears
stay out of my pills
muffle out my cries
but I will still utter

"I'm happy for you, have a good day"

So many people (including myself) can relate to this. Sometimes, you have to go for days just faking your happiness ... don't want anyone to know that you're dying on the inside. I like how you changed the tone of this piece in the second stanza ... I was expecting this to be a happy poem at first. Kinda reminds me of the poem "We Wear the Mask" by Paul Laurence Dunbar. Thanks for sharing.
