Everything You Are To MeA Poem by Sheala McWilliamsA love poem that borders on the insane and unhealthy
You are my eyes through which I see the world
Without you, everything is a blur and I wonder why I bother to look You are my ears through which I hear the music and laughter Without you, I hear only the yelling, the crying, the monotone And I wish that God had made me deaf You are my lips with which I smile and sing and joke Without you, I am coarse I frown and bite, and wonder why I do not simply hide my face You hold my hands and I question why I would use my hands for any other purpose Because your hands in mine are the only thing that feels right You touch my skin and I cannot think of anything except that I should perhaps be covered all the time I spend away from you Everything but your fingers touching me may as well feel like spiders or sandpaper You smile at me and I know now what people think of when they see sunsets and oceans They both pale in comparison to the beauty I am struck with when I look at you With you, I feel beautiful Everything feels beautiful And you are beautiful to me, you always will be © 2021 Sheala McWilliams |
