Mental health

Mental health

A Poem by JStarchild
"

A glimpse into the daily struggle of long term mental illness

"

I barely sit down

On one of the countless

Tattered armchairs in dull colors

Before they hand me papers

I now know by heart

Standardized charts and questionnaires

From a scale of one to ten rate your heart rate

Appetite for life

From a scale of one to can someone see me

Free me

How well have you slept in the past three days

Self-evaluation of low self-esteem

Pats on the back for self-awareness

But what do I do with knowledge

When incapacitated

By my minds capacity

For tricks and illusions

Making life inconceivable
